Please join us in Claremont McKenna College’s Annual 1946 Challenge with a contribution to the CMC Student Investment Fund (SIF)! The 1946 Challenge seeks to exceed 1,946 donors in 1,946 minutes, over October 11th and 12th. Donate here and select "Student Investment Fund" in the "designation" field!

The 1946 Challenge is an opportunity for alumni, parents, students, staff, and faculty to contribute to an area of the college that is meaningful to them. We hope that you will support us in expanding the impact of CMC SIF, to develop students for thoughtful, productive lives and responsible leadership.

Founded in 1974 with a $500 donation of investment securities, SIF is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and now manages approximately $2.5 million of the college’s endowment. SIF provides students with opportunities to hone their investing skills, prepare for careers in finance, and help fund an annual scholarship to support student opportunity. Your support enables students like Zara, Annie, Rachana, and Natalie to pursue careers in finance and set an example of excellence as they mentor those around them.

Your support also allows our members to continue competing, and succeeding, at investment conferences across the country. In 2022 alone, SIF teams placed:

  • 1st at Cornell University’s Undergraduate Women in Investing Stock Pitch Competition

  • 2nd at Dodge & Cox’s West Coast Investment Case Competition in San Francisco

  • Top 8 at Houlihan Lokey’s Financial Restructuring Case Competition in Los Angeles

Beyond the benefits to our members, SIF partners with Claremont McKenna College’s Financial Economics Institute to host guest speaker events and the annual Claremont Finance Conference. Our primary goal is to provide all students with a hands-on education in investing that can't be replicated in the classroom. Our plans for this year include increasing our engagement with the broader community by opening training and networking sessions to the entire student body, collaborating with other student investment funds at the 5Cs and beyond, and providing members with opportunities to learn from alumni.
